Church of San Miguel de Enquerentes

The parish church has a rectangular floor plan and is built in masonry. Its side walls, plastered and painted white, contrast with the façade, which retains a natural stone finish. The current belfry (bell tower) is of recent construction.

Saint Michael the Archangel, patron of the parish, is one of the three archangels mentioned by name in the Bible, along with Gabriel and Raphael. He is regarded as a defender of the faith, protector of the Church, guide of souls, and warrior against evil. His liturgical feast is celebrated on September 29, together with Saint Gabriel and Saint Raphael. He usually is depicted wearing a soldier’s armor, holding a sword or spear, trampling the devil underfoot, and sometimes carrying a scale symbolizing justice. He is the patron of police officers, soldiers, firefighters, and all who face danger.

In front of the church stands a cruceiro (stone cross). The visit can be complemented by a tour of the Hórreo de Outeiro, the viewpoint of Coto de San Sebastián, or the recreational area of Brandelos, among other points of interest.
